Climate in Croatia is excellent for sailors and sea lovers, it is typically Mediterranean climate. Off seasons are mildly rainy and windy, with pleasant temperatures up to 20 degrees. Summers are pretty hot, especially in July and August, when the temperature can rise to even 40 degrees. Still, when on a boat and with constant opportunity to cool yourself in the beautiful sky-blue sea, you won’t feel the hotness of the weather. Northern, central and southern Dalmatia differ in climate, where the North Adriatic is with somewhat lower temperatures and more winds during the season, while the Central and southern Dalmatia are with some higher temperatures during the season and not that windy. Croatia is an excellent choice for spending your sailing vacation as whichever part of the year you chose, you will definitely enjoy it. When sailing in Croatia you need to pay attention to the weather forecast and the winds during your sailing period.
Bura, a northeast wind that is the strongest in this area, and it appears in almost all parts of Croatia, but the strength is different depending on the area. This wind is stronger during autumn, winter and the beginning of spring, where it can last for a few days, while during summer it usually lasts for a maximum of 1 or 2 days.
Tramontana is a wind similar to Bura. It is a somewhat milder version of it, even though it can be stronger further away from the coast, causing big waves and followed by a clear sky. Jugo, a southeast humid wind. It usually comes with rain, and a great deal of humidity and clouds. It can also be stronger and usually lasts for several days.
Maestral, a mild north west wind that is one of the most favorite among the sailors, that is why it is famous as the friend of all sailors. It cools down the temperatures and gives the pleasant feeling on warm summer days.

When sailing in Croatia, and in any other part of the world, it is our duty to take care of the natural treasure we are all using and enjoying and make sure we leave it in the same state as when we started our sailing trip, at least on our route. Throwing garbage into the sea damages the underwater life and it pollutes not only the sea but all the species in it. Therefore we need to protect it as well as to warn anybody who may do the opposite, as in the end we are all sailing in the same sea and we all need to take care of it in order to enjoy it for many years to come and leave it to the next generations.
When on the sea there are some restrictions and common rules that need to be followed in order to avoid accidents and penalties. Make sure you pass the larger boats that are coming towards you and leave enough space for them as well as always be aware of your speed and distance between boats. When you are in the position to overtake a slower vessel, make sure you provide as much room as possible and slow down to an appropriate passing speed. In an opposite situation, if someone is overtaking you, slow down and allow them to pass you quickly.
When you see another crew on their boat in trouble, please make sure you offer your help, of course, having in mind the safety of your boat and your crew. Waste tanks can be emptied only in places specifically made for this service. Check all the pump- out stations on your route and please use these in order to empty your tanks.
When entering a harbour or an anchorage be sure to slow your speed and be aware of the nearby boats. Always make sure you anchor far enough from other boats, taking into consideration the wind as well as sea conditions. The first boat in the anchorage has the right to decide where to anchor. It is always better to call the marina for a mooring berth or anchorage before you arrive at the marina, to make sure you will have your spot.
If you have chartered a boat with a skipper, always follow his instructions and if necessary help the skipper with the boat. If you are skipper on the boat yourself, it is better that your crew helps you and has some assignments to fulfill. Make sure each crew member knows how to act in case of safety and emergency procedures. When on the boat, make sure everything is in its place so that you know where to look for it.
These are some of the basic rules to be followed when on a boat so all you need now is a boat and Adriatic Charter Miles is just the right place.
